Question Wednesday: Hair

So it's that time of the week again for the Question Wednesday Blog hop hosted by Nykki. This weeks questions are all about hair and come from the lovely Miss L from Beauty by Miss L. I have a love hate relationship with my hair. Some days it behaves and others it just sticks up everywhere and doesn't do what I want it to.

- What is your natural hair colour? Are you happy with it?
My natural hair colour is light ginger. I do like it but I wish that it was a more intense colour at times, especially in the summer when the colour washes out from being bleached by the sun.
- Do you dye your hair? If yes then do you do it yourself or go to a salon?
I dye my hair when I fancy a change. This is probably only around one a year and usually done at home with my mum. I have a lot of fun doing it this way and it doesn't break the bank as much. I have had highlights done at the hairdressers but nothing more than that.
- What is your must have hair care product?
Heat protectant. I blow dry my hair at least twice a week and would hate to think the damage it would cause if I didn't. My favourite is the GHD heat protectant as it smells so good and really stops my hair drying out.
- What is the worst hair care product that you have ever used?
Tresemme foam dry shampoo. I bought it as it looked such an interesting product and it just makes my hair more greasy rather than less. I've tried using less product, more product, towel drying, hair drying and no matter what I do my hair ends up a sticky mess :(
- Do you have any good tips or homemade recipes for long and pretty hair?
Make sure you get it cut regularly and eat a balanced diet. If I'm having an off week with my diet then I definitely notice my hair is less shiny and gets greasier more quickly. I also use a Wonder Oil, a nourishing hair oil, which I picked up at Holland and Barratt as an overnight hair treatment every couple of weeks.

So that's the round up of questions for this week. If you want to join in the hop over to Nykki's blog. What are your hair care secrets?

Question Wednesday: Holy Grail Products

I've missed writing the Question Wednesday posts, so was very pleased when I woke up yesterday to see there was a new one to get involved with. Unfortunately I haven't got back into the swing of it by posting this a day late but it was getting I really love topic of holy grail products and so better late than never! (Posting these a day late seems to be happening too frequently for my liking and I vow to not be late for the next one!)

  1. What is your go-to eye makeup look? What products do you use to achieve this look?
I'm definitely a neutral eye kind of girl with lots of eyeliner and mascara. For a quick everyday eye makeup I start with MAC groundwork paintpot all over the lid, then apply MAC summerhaze mineral eyeshadow all over the lid followed by Maybelline 24hr Studio gel eyeliner on the upper lash line and my Look Eyeliner pencil in No 6, which is flesh coloured, on the water line. Lastly I put on lashings of black mascara.
  2. What are your top 3 favourite lip products for summer?
I've been loving really moisturising lip products, such as the Revlon Lip butters, Burts Bees Lip Shimmers and my Carmex Moisture Plus lip tint.
  3. What is your favourite liquid face product?
I haven't found a liquid foundation that I have loved and would call holy grail yet. I really love my Nature Republic By Flower BB cream, especially in the hot weather as it doesn't tend to slide off my face in the same way as my liquid foundations do.
  4. What is your favourite eyebrow product?
To be honest I don't really do anything with my eyebrows. My eyebrows are kind of gingery and I have yet to find a colour that doesn't make them look odd. At most I just run some clear mascara through them. If anyone has any suggestions they would be welcome!
  5. Lastly, what are some of your holy grail makeup items?
I really love my MAC paintpots and haven't manged to find anything better. I adore my Majolica Majorca Lash King Mascara, which I have a post on here. I would have to say the Revlon Lip butters which are a great alternative and more hydrating then lipsticks and aren't sticky like a lipgloss. The Collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer is great for covering blemishes and stays put and my flesh toned Look eyeliner is fantastic for making me look bright eyed in the mornings!

So that's the round up for this weeks Question Wednesday post. What are some of your holy grail products? I'd love to hear about them and maybe check out a few :)

Question Wednesdy: Travel Edition

Hi everyone!

So I thought I would take a quick break from the old revision to complete this weeks Question Wednesday post. As I finish my final exams on the 6th June these are probably going to be the only proper posts I will be doing for the next few weeks, which makes me a little sad. However once all the exams are over I will be back with a vengeance!

So this weeks post is all about travelling! I love travelling and am currently trying to plan a trip this summer (funds and time permitted) so I'm really excited to take part.

1. If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be?

I've really been wanting to travel to Russia for a few years now and hopefully in the near future I will be able to but there is a crazy amount of red tape first which makes it a pain. I also want to visit America and travel around a there a bit. There's so many places I want to go to!
2. Where is the coolest/best place you have ever travelled?
I think my holiday to Vietnam last year was the best so far, simply because it was the furthest away from the UK I've been and somewhere entirely new to me. (I've mainly travelled around Europe)
3. How do you feel about road trips?
Ok I suppose, as long as the destination and company make up for the long and potentially boring car journey.
4. You just won two tickets to your dream vacation, who's going with you?
Either the boyfriend or my mum. It depends where it was and for how long. Currently my dream holiday is to work with elephants in Asia somewhere but, fingers crossed, I should be doing that this summer with the boyfriend. After that, who knows?
5. Airport security is only allowing you to take 3 make-up items with you, what are they?
Mascara, eyeliner and some kind of foundation/ BB cream / tinted moisturiser I think. I definitely can't live without mascara!

I hope you enjoyed this weeks questions and as usual if you want to take part then please head on over to Nykki's blog.

Question Wednesday: Pets Edition

 Hi everyone

I'm a bit late with the question Wednesday post this week but as it was all about pets I just had to take part. So here are the questions for this week:

1. How many pets do you have and what are their names?

We have 2 cats, a rabbit and a goldfish (+ my sister's dog Willow). The cats are called Schrödinger (because of Schrödinger's cat) and Dotty, the rabbit is called Coco (or fondly nicknamed Coco-no-nuts by my dad after he had his man-hood taken away) and the fish doesn't really have a name and just gets called fishy, fish or some variation.
2. Why do you have pets?
Most of our pets we've gotten because we know people who don't want them anymore and we've got a bit of a soft spot for animals and a hard time saying no. Our cats were abandoned and we took them in and the rabbit came from a friend of a friend who could no longer look after him. The fish I got when I was around 10 I think. I really miss them when I'm away at uni and the first thing I do when I come home is find them all and say hello.
3. What is your dream pet? (Breed, Kind, etc.)
I'm not sure really. I think I definitely want a couple of cats when I have my own place but there is not a specific pet I would just love to have.
4. If you could domesticate any wild animal and have it for a pet, which would it be?
Probably pretty obvious, but an elephant. I wish they had tea cup elephants as well as tea cup pigs. I would be the first person in the queue to get one, no matter the cost!
5. Let's solve the biggest pet debate: Cats or Dogs?
Before we had the cats and my sister got her dog I would have said a dog person. However I think I've become more of a cat person as they are far less high maintenance yet still give you cuddles and affection (on their terms of course!).
Dotty left and Schrödinger right stealing all the heat from our fire

I hope you enjoyed reading my answers to this weeks Question Wednesday post and of course if you want to take part then head over to Nykki's blog :)

Question Wednesday: Spring Edition

I have been reading Nykki's Question Wednesday posts over on her blog for a few weeks now and really love the idea. So I've finally decided to take part. This week's questions are all on Spring and I'm hoping this will get me in a Spring mood even though the weather has been bloody awful as of late.

1. What is your favourite season and why?
Spring has got to be my favourite month. It's the sign of better weather, longer days and Summer on the way. I love the flowers, the blossom and the sunnier warmer weather (when it is around, I do live in England after all!)
2. What is your favourite flower?
I really love Daffodils. I think they are so pretty and when they start to pop up all over the place I know that Spring is in the air.
3. What is the current trend that you love, but haven't or wouldn't try? (if you are fearless, what is one that you have tried and loved)
Probably colour blocking and just bright colours in general. I tend to stick with fairly neutral colours in my wardrobe and the thought of wearing lots of bright colours scares me quite a lot.
4. How would you spend an ideal spring day?
Going for a walk / cycle in the countryside. With all the flowers, tree blossom and bird so walks at this time of year really give me a chance to appreciate the outdoors and nature.
5. What do you love most about the spring months?
I love the colours of spring and the promise (usually) or better, warmer weather.

I hope you enjoyed reading my answers to this week's Question Wednesday. If you would like to take part then hop on over to Nykki's blog and check out the rules.
