Question Wednesday: Hair

So it's that time of the week again for the Question Wednesday Blog hop hosted by Nykki. This weeks questions are all about hair and come from the lovely Miss L from Beauty by Miss L. I have a love hate relationship with my hair. Some days it behaves and others it just sticks up everywhere and doesn't do what I want it to.

- What is your natural hair colour? Are you happy with it?
My natural hair colour is light ginger. I do like it but I wish that it was a more intense colour at times, especially in the summer when the colour washes out from being bleached by the sun.
- Do you dye your hair? If yes then do you do it yourself or go to a salon?
I dye my hair when I fancy a change. This is probably only around one a year and usually done at home with my mum. I have a lot of fun doing it this way and it doesn't break the bank as much. I have had highlights done at the hairdressers but nothing more than that.
- What is your must have hair care product?
Heat protectant. I blow dry my hair at least twice a week and would hate to think the damage it would cause if I didn't. My favourite is the GHD heat protectant as it smells so good and really stops my hair drying out.
- What is the worst hair care product that you have ever used?
Tresemme foam dry shampoo. I bought it as it looked such an interesting product and it just makes my hair more greasy rather than less. I've tried using less product, more product, towel drying, hair drying and no matter what I do my hair ends up a sticky mess :(
- Do you have any good tips or homemade recipes for long and pretty hair?
Make sure you get it cut regularly and eat a balanced diet. If I'm having an off week with my diet then I definitely notice my hair is less shiny and gets greasier more quickly. I also use a Wonder Oil, a nourishing hair oil, which I picked up at Holland and Barratt as an overnight hair treatment every couple of weeks.

So that's the round up of questions for this week. If you want to join in the hop over to Nykki's blog. What are your hair care secrets?

Review: VO5 Miracle Concentrate Elixir with Argan Oil

Hi everyone

You know a product is working for you when you notice a difference when you stop using it. I found this out the hard way a few weeks ago when I left my L’Oreal Mythic Hair oil at home. My hair felt dry and far less manageable and I knew I needed to get myself a new bottle of hair oil.

As much as I would have loved to purchase myself a bottle of Moroccan oil, as a student my bank balance wouldn’t have appreciated it, so I went on a hunt for a more affordable replacement.  I’d read a bit about the VO5 miracle elixir on a few blogs and thought for £5 I may as well give it a go until I manage to go home and pick up my bottle of L’Oreal oil. The VO5 Miracle elixir contains Argan oil which has many uses from oil for dipping bread into to skin care. It seems to be the ‘must have’ oil of late.

The packaging is pretty simple: A plastic bottle with a plastic pipette to dispense the oil. I like the idea of the pipette as you can control how much you want to use, however I do find that the oil can run out of the pipette before you can dispense it in your hand. This can be a little messy but for the price I don’t think you can complain too much and it’s something you can get to grips with easily.
For the price tag I wasn’t expecting wonders, but I have to say I’m really impressed. The oil is light and doesn't leave the hair looking greasy and leaves my hair soft, shiny and manageable. One thing that I love is the smell. From the oils I've tried they seem to have a smell that I can only describe as manly. This doesn't and I personally think smells amazing. I just run a pipette of the oil through my hair after blow drying or styling and two to three pipettes through as a treatment about twice a week.

I’ve definitely noticed a difference in the three weeks I've been using it and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to try hair oil without the huge price tag! It comes in 50 ml bottles and I found mine in Tesco, although I’m sure you can find it in most Boots and Superdrug stores.

What’s your favourite hair oil?

Love
