January Glossybox Review

Hi

Seeing as last night I received an email telling me my February box would be arriving in the next couple of days, I thought it was high time I finally reviewed my January Box. Although I’m very late on the bandwagon here, it does mean I’ve had a good try of all the products in the box.

January’s Glossybox is another limited edition box especially for Valentines’ day. I feel a bit spoilt with two limited edition boxes in a row and it’s going to be a bit of a shame to go back to the standard box with the standard pale pink packaging.

This month’s box contained the following:

Eyeko Skinny eyeliner in Midnight Blue
It was interesting to try two Eyeko products this month, as the fat eye stick was featured in the January Carmine box. I love the intense blue shade of this eyeliner which adds a great pop of colour, while still being deep enough to define the lash line. The eyeliner is very creamy and applies well without any tugging on the skin. I think the long silver handle is quite a clever design - I hate it when you have to throw away a pencil because it becomes difficult to hold properly and this should help!

Clarins Extra Firming Day and Night Creams

I was pleased to see some Clarins products in my box as I’ve wanted to try this brand for some time now. Both of these products feel very moisturising on the skin. I think these products may be more appropriate for older skin, however I like the feeling they give my skin and I would definitely be tempted to try more from the Clarins skin care range.

FAB Body Moisturiser

This moisturiser contains an antioxidant booster as well as ingredients which protect, nourish, moisturise, soothe and heal dry skin. It also contains no parabens, harsh chemicals or colorants which sounds like a winning combination. This has a thick, creamy texture which absorbs readily into the skin, without leaving a greasy residue. I use this after having a shower and leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated for the rest of the day. Its a great little body moisturiser and I’d be tempted to buy the full sized product.

MURAD Hybrids Skin perfecting primer – dewy finish

When I first swatched this primer I was scared. Firstly, I’m quite pale (MAC NW 15) and this is a much darker shade. I thought it would make me look orange but I was pleasantly surprised. This primer blends out to give a colour that matches my skin tone. As there is a hint of colour, it evens out my skin tone in much the same way as a light tinted moisturiser does.
Secondly the word dewey scared me. My skin is prone to getting quite shiny and greasy, especially if the wrong product is used. I have used this with a matte foundation and it gave my complexion a slight glow, without looking shiny. This primer helps my makeup stay on. I was sceptical of this primer but it’s a nice product, I like it but am not in love with it and so don’t think I will be purchasing the full sized bottle.

The January box has some real gems in it. It is probably one of my favourite boxes so far. I really hope that the February box will be just as much of a treat.

Love Rae
