April Favourites

Hi everyone!

I can’t believe how quickly this year is going. April has flown by and now my birthday is just around the corner and I only have 4 more weeks left of my degree. In April I discovered a few new pieces which I’ve really been enjoying using. So here’s everything I’ve enjoyed this month:

Real Techniques Buffing Brush
While Boots were having their 3 for 2 offer I picked up quite a few of these brushes. This is definitely one of the stars and makes applying foundation so much easier to create such a flawless base. It is also super soft and feels amazing against the skin. I love it and can’t imaging using anything else for applying my foundation now.

Revlon Lip Butters in Sugar Frosting and Candy Apple
I’ve never really been a lip product person, but these have definitely sparked an interest. I love the feel of these on the lips and the colour pay off these have. I’ve been reaching for Sugar Frosting on an almost daily basis to add a pretty pearly sheen.

No 7 Vital Enlightening Highlighter Power
Highlighter is one of those products which I’ve never owned until now as I’ve never had the desire to. However I had a No 7 voucher and this looked so pretty so I thought I would give it a shot. I’m a complete highlighter convert now and love the natural glow this gives so much that I’ve been reaching for this every day.

The Balm Frat Boy Blush
I received this is my first Carmine box back in October. I had used it every now and again but it wasn’t until this month that I’ve been reaching for it on a regular basis. This blush is beautifully pigmented, giving a matte pinky coral flush to the cheeks, and lasts really well too. Plus the retro packaging is really fun.

Nature Republic By Flower BB Cream
Jeannette sent this to me after her trip to Korea and I was so excited to receive this in my package. This BB cream has a gorgeous rose scent, applies wonderfully with a fairly good amount of coverage. I’ve been reaching for this a lot, particularly on days when I don’t want a full face of makeup. I think I will reaching for this when (or if) the warmer weather appears over standard foundation.

Lush Breath of Fresh Air Toner
I have a whole new skincare routine thanks to the lovely ladies in Lush and I have been so impressed with this toner. I love this toner, it leaves my skin feeling refreshed without drying it out. I’ll keep my comments short as I’m planning on doing a full review of this soon so look out for that!

The Body Shop Jasmine and Frangipani Body, Room and Linen Spray
I’m a bit obsessed with scented candles, room sprays, incense sticks, basically anything that will leave my room smelling good. This is the newest spray I’ve added to my collection and has such a fresh floral scent. I love spraying it on my bed sheets before I go to bed at night.

So here is everything that I’ve loved in the month of April. Do you share any of my favourites or have any suggestions for products for me to try out in May?

Project Pan: My first Update

A few weeks ago I started my project pan. I very quickly used up the last of a few products and I’m actually quite enjoying the sense of achievement I get when the last dregs of product are squeezed out the tube/bottle. It’s also becoming a great way to rediscover some products and assert my hatred for others. So here are the first 6 products I’ve used up:

No 7 Quick Thinking Makeup Wipes
I think these are the best makeup wipes I have used ever, and I’ve tried a lot of different wipes. They are so soft and gentle on the skin while being very effective at removing makeup. The clip lid is also really handy for keeping the wipes moist, right down to the last one. The only downside to these is the price and so I don’t think I will be repurchasing these very often, especially now I’ve discovered micellar makeup remover.

KMS Free Shape Quick Blow Dry Spray
The amount of time this cut blow drying down by is truly amazing and is definitely something I reached for on those days when I was pressed for time in the mornings. It is definitely something I want to repurchase and when I’ve used some more products I think I will be repurchasing this.

Radox Eastern Spirit Shower Gel
Radox sell super cheap shower gels which always smell so nice. The scent of this one in particular is so nice. It’s a brand I always go back to and will probably be always be a brand I go back to.

Murad Skin Perfecting Primer – Dewy Finish
This worked really well as a primer and although it has a dewy finish didn’t make my shine-prone skin overly shiny. My main concern with this primer is that it is tinted and although it blends out nicely I found that it made my face look a totally different colour to my chest – probably due to how pale I am. For this reason I’m still on the hunt for the perfect primer. Any suggestions are more than welcome!

Proactiv Solution Night Repairing Lotion
I used the whole Proactiv solution system at the beginning of the year and I found that it worked really well for my skin and I got far fewer blemishes than normal during the stressful exam period. I think the system may be too harsh for my skin to use continuously but I would highly recommend it to anyone who has problem skin.

Boots Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Foaming Face Wash
This was my go to face wash when I was about 15 and I don’t think it really does anything for my skin anymore. It smells nice and foams up well but it’s just not for me anymore.

Project Pan has come at a really good time for me. On the 21st April, to celebrate World Month, if you go to and Origins counter and bring any empty skincare product (from any brand) then you can trade it in for a complimentary full size moisturiser. There are two to choose from: either the Starting Over Age-erasing Moisturiser with Mimosa or A Perfect World SPF25 Age-defense Moisturiser with White Tea. If you have any empty containers around then it’s definitely worth taking up the offer! I think this might be cheating a bit with my project pan and trying to use up my countless bottles of moisturiser but the offer is just a little too good to resist, as well as it being an opportunity to get some old bottles recycled.

So that’s the round up for my first project pan update. I will hopefully be keeping on track and will be back with another update soon. Is anyone else doing a Project Pan at the moment? If so how are you finding it?

February Favourites

Hi

I can’t believe we’re already a week into March! This year is going way too fast for my liking and but I’m glad that spring is in the air, the evenings are getting lighter and the daffodils are starting to come out. Anyways on to the things I’ve been loving over the month of February:

No 7 Beautiful Skin Quick Thinking Wipes
I bought these with a No 7 voucher I had, bringing the price down from an extortionate £7 to a more reasonable £2. These feel like no other wipes I have used, so soft on the skin yet remove all of my makeup. I wouldn’t get them at full price but if I have another No 7 voucher I would definitely pick them up.

Benefit Big Beautiful Eyes, Eye Contour Kit
I’ve been using this kit a lot over the past month for my everyday eye makeup. The kit contains two lovely pinkey-brown shades and a deeper brown shade which can be used as a liner, or blended through the crease to for a deeper smokey look. I’m not a fan of the concealer, as it’s too dark for my skin tone but the eyeshadows more than make up for this.

MAC Summer Haze Mineral Eyeshaow
This is the perfect eyeshadow for those lazy days. I’ve been using this throughout the month when I’ve had to do my makeup in a hurry. It’s a beautiful shimmery champagne colour which I wear all over the lid, add a touch of eyeliner and mascara and away I go.

Majolica Majorca the Lash King Mascara
I received this in my swap with Jeanette and I can’t put it down. It contains fibres and so makes my lashes look long and full. It also stays on all day without smudging!

Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner 24hr in Intense Black
For the past three months I’ve worn nothing but brown eyeliner and this has changed that. This gel eyeliner is so easy to apply, dries quickly and stays all day without smudging. It’s a great budget gel eyeliner and worth looking into.

Bourjois Smokey Effect Eyeliner Pencil in Ultra Black
I’ve been using this on the outer half of my lower lash line to go with the black eyeliner theme of this month. I love this as I can smudge it out with the brush to create a smokey worn in look. I also have this in Smoked Brown and Grey Shadow.

Look Beauty Long Last Eyeliner in Shade 6
I’ve heard the amazing eye brightening effect nude eyeliners can give by using them on the water line. I could not agree more! This makes my eyes look wider and brighter, especially after only a few hours of sleep! It has great lasting power too.

N-Spa Calm Me Pillow Mist
I received this as part of a set for Christmas and thought it would be interesting to try. This is a linen spray which contains lavender, which is known for aiding sleep. I spray it on my pillow every night before I go to sleep and it does help to relax me before I drop off.

Joico K-Pack Intense Hydrator
How soft and silky my hair feels after using this is fantastic. I’ve been using it about once a week as a treat for my hair and afterwards I can’t help but not touch my hair. It’s quite pricey but the effects are noticeable enough to be worth it.

Soap and Glory The Breakfast Scrub
This is the first Soap and Glory product I have tried. It’s a sugary body scrub that leaves my skin feeling smooth. I think the smell is one of the best things about this product; it’s a rich maple syrup smell which is sugary and smells good enough to eat.

So that’s all of my favourites for the month of February. What have your favourite products been this past month?
